Fern Creek Fire Prevention Bureau
The Fire Prevention Bureau is under the direction of Sergeant Joe Elstone JElstone@ferncreekfire.com.

The Bureau is responsible for conducting inspections of all commercial and multi-family residential occupancies within the Fern Creek Fire Protection Districts' jurisdiction. The Bureau also is tasked with Public Education and Fire Safety projects held throughout the year.

The Bureau is supported by one part-time fire inspector and many volunteer members who participate in numerous events throughout the year. Our volunteers are a major part of our fire districts success.

Children's Fire Safety House

The "Children's Fire Safety House" is a portable classroom owned by the Jefferson County Fire Trustees Association, and operated and maintained by members from the Fire Prevention Inspectors Association of Jefferson County. The Bureau utilizes the "Fire Safety House" at various times throughout the year to teach children about fire safety in the home and how to escape from their home in the event that they are trapped when a fire starts. Emphasis on proper Smoke Detector maintenance is discussed as well as monthly testing and semi-annual battery replacement. Children have an uncanny way of teaching their parents the very lessons they learn during our brief contact with them.

Your daycare or school can request to visit the Fire House or request to have a Fire Engine come to your school for a function or program. Please contact our Fire Prevention Bureau at (502) 239-7075 to check on available times.
